Transfer stock between stores
Request, dispatch, and receive goods between locations without changing what the business owns overall.
Updated 13 September 2026
A transfer moves stock from one Swipee store to another. It changes what each location holds but never changes the business-wide total.
Request a transfer
You need at least two active stores.
- 1Open Inventory → Transfers in the owner dashboard.
- 2Choose New transfer.
- 3Select the sending and receiving stores.
- 4Add the items and quantities requested.
- 5Add a note if useful, then choose Request transfer.
At this point nothing has left the sending store.
Dispatch what actually leaves
Open the requested transfer and enter the quantity being sent for each line. A manager or owner must approve dispatch with their PIN because this is the moment stock leaves the building.
The sending store's stock falls by the dispatched quantity, not merely the requested quantity. If only part fits on the van, record the part that really left.
Receive at the other store
When the goods arrive:
- 1Open the transfer.
- 2Choose Receive.
- 3Enter what actually arrived for each line.
- 4Confirm.
The receiving store rises by that quantity. If only part arrives, the transfer stays Partially received so the remainder can be received later.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Requested | Prepared, but nothing has left yet |
| Dispatched / In transit | Goods have left the sending store |
| Partially received | Some dispatched goods arrived; some remain outstanding |
| Completed | Everything dispatched was received |
| Cancelled | The active transfer was stopped |
Each status change records who did it and when.
A quantity does not match
Record what was dispatched and received, not what the paperwork promised. The three columns — requested, dispatched, received — preserve the difference so you can investigate the missing or unsent stock without falsifying either store's count.
