Add an item to your library
Build the catalogue once and every sale after it becomes faster and more accurate.
Updated 21 August 2026
Your item library is the backbone of Swipee. Once an item exists, selling it updates stock, feeds your reports, and prints a proper receipt line — automatically.
Add an item from the dashboard
- 1Open Inventory in the owner dashboard.
- 2Choose Add item.
- 3Fill in the details:
| Field | What to put |
|---|---|
| Name | What you and your customers call it |
| Category | The group it belongs to, such as Drinks or Airtime |
| Price | The selling price, in USD or ZiG |
| SKU | Your own code for it — optional but useful |
| Barcode | Scan or type the code on the pack |
| Track inventory | On if you count stock for this item |
| Stock quantity | How many you have right now |
| Low stock level | The count at which you want a warning |
- 1Save.
Add an item from the app
Open Items → Manage items → Add. The same fields appear, and you can scan the barcode straight into the form with the camera.
Naming that works at speed
- Put the distinguishing word first: "Coke 500ml", not "500ml bottle of Coke".
- Be consistent with units — pick
500mlor0.5Land stay with it. - Avoid codes only you understand. Whoever covers the counter on Saturday must find it too.
Should you track inventory?
| Track it | Do not track it |
|---|---|
| Anything you buy, hold, and sell | Services and labour |
| Anything you can run out of | Made-to-order items |
| Anything worth counting | Airtime and one-off charges |
Items with tracking off still sell and still appear in reports — Swipee just does not keep a count for them.
