Terms of Service

Last updated 21 August 2026

These terms govern use of the Swipee Android app, owner dashboard, and website operated by Swipee Technologies (“Swipee”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Swipee.

What Swipee is

Swipee is a point-of-sale and inventory product for merchants. It records sales, tracks stock, and shows reports on a phone till and a web dashboard. It is in a live pilot, starting in Zimbabwe. Features and availability can change as the pilot runs.

The account

  • You must be able to enter a binding contract and use Swipee for a business.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the business details you register.
  • You must keep passwords, till codes, and devices under your control.
  • You are responsible for activity on the account, including staff using a till login.

What works today

Cash sales, the item library, barcodes, inventory, receipts, customers, stores, and the owner dashboard are intended for daily trade. Card tap, chip, swipe, mobile money, agent cash-out, and hardware pairing may be shown so you can practise the journey. Unless we have confirmed in writing that a payment rail is live for your account, those flows do not move money on an external network. Do not release goods against a card or mobile-money “approval” shown only in Swipee. See pilot status.

Your responsibilities

  • Use Swipee only for lawful trade and keep your own tax and licensing obligations.
  • Do not try to break, scrape, or overload the service, or probe other merchants’ data.
  • Do not use Swipee to mislead customers about whether a payment has actually cleared.
  • If you store customer names or phone numbers, you are responsible for that information under applicable privacy law. Collect only what you need.

Fees

The core till, inventory, and dashboard are free during the pilot. We do not charge a processing fee for a payment Swipee did not actually process. If a live rail is switched on later, fees will be shown before that rail is used. See pricing.

Intellectual property

Swipee and its marks, software, and help content belong to Swipee Technologies. You keep ownership of your business data. You grant us a licence to host and process that data solely to provide the service.

Availability

We aim for a reliable pilot, including offline queuing of sales on the phone, but we do not warrant uninterrupted service. You should keep a backup way to record sales if the phone or network fails.

Liability

Swipee is provided “as is” during the pilot. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for lost profits, lost stock, or damages arising from reliance on a prototype payment flow, downtime, or incorrect data you or your staff entered. Our total liability for a claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for Swipee in the 3 months before the claim (which is zero while the core product is free).

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, where such a limit is not allowed.

Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe is abusive, unlawful, or a risk to other merchants or the pilot. You may stop using Swipee at any time and ask us to export or delete your data via contact.

Privacy

How we handle personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product and the pilot evolve. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after a material change means you accept the new terms. If you do not, stop using Swipee and contact us to close the account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe, without affecting any non-waivable consumer or merchant protections that apply where you live or trade. Disputes should first be raised with us through the contact form.
