Which phones work with Swipee

Swipee is built to run on phones merchants already own. You do not need dedicated till hardware to get started.

Minimum software

For a comfortable counter, use a phone with at least 2 GB of memory, enough free storage for the local item library and queued sales, and current security updates.

Camera and scanning

A rear camera with autofocus is strongly recommended for item and stocktake barcodes. Without one, you can still search by name or type a SKU or barcode by hand.

Camera scanning needs permission. Good lighting and an undamaged lens matter more than an expensive phone.

Bluetooth receipt printers

• Android works with common Bluetooth Classic thermal printers.
• iPhone needs a Bluetooth Low Energy printer unless the accessory is MFi-certified.

Contactless card hardware

In-app card acceptance is disabled during the pilot, so NFC is not required. Take payment on your existing bank terminal and record the card sale after it approves.

Battery and connection

A phone that dies at 4pm is a till that dies at 4pm. Keep a charger or power bank at the counter. Mobile data or Wi-Fi is needed to sync, but eligible sales can queue when service drops.

Tablets

Swipee can be used on supported Android tablets and iPads at a fixed counter. A tablet without a rear autofocus camera is less convenient for barcode work.
