Pair a receipt printer

Connect a Bluetooth thermal printer, or skip paper entirely and send receipts digitally.

Updated 21 August 2026

A printer is optional. Digital receipts cost nothing and are easier for customers to keep — but if your customers expect paper, here is how to connect one.

Pair a printer

  1. 1
Load paper and switch the printer on.
  2. 2
Turn on Bluetooth on the phone.
  3. 3
In Swipee, open Settings → Hardware → Printer.
  4. 4
Choose Connect and select your printer.
  5. 5
Print a test receipt to confirm.

After a sale completes, choose Print on the receipt screen. To reprint an older one, open the sale in Transactions and choose Receipt.

If nothing prints

  1. 1
Check the paper roll — most thermal printers stop silently when empty.
  2. 2
Check the roll is the right way round. Thermal paper only prints on one side; if it comes out blank, flip it.
  3. 3
Confirm the printer shows as connected in Settings → Hardware.
  4. 4
Turn the printer off and on, then reconnect.
  5. 5
Charge the printer — low battery causes faint or partial prints.

Paper

Use the width your printer expects, usually 58mm or 80mm. Keep spare rolls at the counter, and store them out of sunlight and heat — thermal paper darkens and becomes unreadable when it gets hot.

Going paperless

Sending a receipt to a phone number or email takes the same tap as printing, costs nothing per sale, and gives the customer a copy they can find again. Many pilot merchants run no printer at all.
