Run a cash drawer
Open with a counted float, track every cash movement, and close with a manager-approved over or short.

A cash drawer is one till's record from opening float to closing count. Swipee adds the movements to show what should be in the drawer; the closing count shows what is actually there.
Open the drawer
On the till, open More → Cash drawer. In the dashboard, open Cash Drawer and select the store and paired till.

- 3Open the drawer.
Only one drawer can be open on a till at a time. The opening float becomes the first movement in its history.
What changes the expected total

Card, mobile-money, and customer-account sales never change the cash drawer.
Record cash moved by hand
Use Pay in for money placed into the till outside a sale. Use Pay out for petty cash, banking, or another removal. Enter the amount and a clear reason; Swipee will not accept an unexplained movement.
If the payment is a business expense, also record the expense. The drawer explains where the cash went; the expense explains what the business spent.
Close the drawer
- 1Count all cash physically in the till.
- 2Enter Cash counted.
- 3Read the live over-or-short figure.
- 4Add a note if the difference needs explaining.
- 5Ask a manager or owner to check the count and enter their PIN.
The close freezes expected cash, counted cash, the variance, who ran the drawer, and who approved it. It cannot be silently rewritten afterwards.
Investigate a difference
Work down the movement list and check:
- cash sales against receipts,
- refunds against returned cash,
- every pay-in and pay-out against its reason,
- the opening float and final physical count.
Do not change a sale or invent a movement only to force the drawer to zero. Keep the true variance and explain it; repeated differences are what the history is designed to reveal.
